Pseudotaenia ajax (Saunders, 1872)

Ecco un altro rappresentante del genere Pseudotaenia. Questa è una delle specie più grandi e caratteristiche.

Si, anche se in parte è mascherata dal pulverulenza gialla comune in molti Buprestidi, ma che in molti esemplari ottenuti già morti non si vede più. Alcune specie osservate in natura sembrano totalmente diverse dagli esemplari in collezione proprio grazie a questa pruina che le ricopre (da vivi o se ben conservati). Perfino specie come le Chalcophora quando sono ricoperte da questo strato (di solito bianco o giallo) assumono un aspetto totalmente diverso. Uno dei motivi per cui non ho ripreparato questa ed altre specie è che per ammorbidirle avrei rischiato la perdita della pruinosita.
